IMPORTANT INFORMATION
OPTIONC- www.optionc.com Website includes mandatory documents that you must review and sign off on. In addition, you can find many useful files including lunch menu, lunch volunteer sign up, bus sign up, school calendar, student-parent handbook, report cards, important information via text message and email (such as school closures). Call HCS office and ask for Miss Erika if you need a password to log into OptionC or if you have any questions about navigating the website. 815-539-7003.
HOLY CROSS SCHOOL WEBSITE- www.holycrossmendota.org Website includes school supplies, athletic schedules, lunch menu, student-parent handbooks including preschool and daycare, school calendar, etc. Sign up on the front page of the website to receive daily announcements and important news. (enter your email in the box on the front page on the bottom of the home page “Sign up for our Newsletter” and you will receive daily announcements and important articles.)
PARENT-STUDENT HANDBOOK- Please read the Parent-Student Handbook. Important info includes school dress code, technology rules, attendance and tardiness, discipline rules, grade system, report cards, cell phones, extracurricular activities, etc. You can find the Parent-Student Handbook on OptionC and holycrossmendota.org
BUSSING- Mendota High School provides bussing for HCS students who are eligible due to their home address. Feel free to call Miss Erika at the HCS office 815-539-7003 if you have any questions regarding how to sign up for bus services.
HOT LUNCH PROGRAM- HCS offers hot lunch provided by Mendota Elementary School. Students can also bring a lunch as well. Students who bring their lunch can get a milk as well. If your child will choose hot lunch, please send a deposit to the HCS office to start the year. . Student lunch fee is $2.75. If your child wants to purchase a second milk, the cost is $0.60.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES- Go to OptionC or www.holycrossmendota.org to find the supply lists. Parents of preschool and kindergartners can drop off their supplies before school begins. Sign up for an appointment to drop off supplies on your OptionC page.
STUDENTS ARRIVING IN THE MORNING- Students in grades K-8 who do not ride a bus, should be dropped off at the front of the school no earlier than 7:30am. A bell will ring at 7:40am to allow students to enter the school and their classroom. Bus riders will also enter the school at 7:40am. (students who are dropped off at the day care program are dismissed to go to their classroom at 7:40am as well.) Students who are not in their classroom at the 7:50am will be considered as tardy.
ALL-STUDENT MASS ON WEDNESDAYS- Attending mass on Wednesdays is at the heart of our mission- spiritual growth. Mass on Wednesdays start at 8:10am. Parents are encouraged to attend the all-student mass on Wednesdays. (Occasionally, the weekly all-student mass will be moved from Wednesday to another day in order to celebrate special Feast Days.
ALL-STUDENT PRAYER ON MONDAYS- We start off the school week with an all-student prayer in the gymnasium at 7:45am. Please drop off your student(s) on Mondays before the 7:45am prayer session begins.
DISMISSAL AT THE END OF SCHOOL- Bus riders are sent to the gym at 7:45am and wait in the gym for their busses to arrive. Three buses leave HCS at 7:50pm. Additional busses pick up at 3:00pm and 3:15pm. Students who walk home must leave the school from the front door near the flagpole at 2:50pm BEFORE CAR RIDERS ARE DISMISSED. Car riders are dismissed and picked up in the back parking lot. Parents should not pick up car riders at the front of the school. Please cooperate these rules so that all of our students are safe.
